    Description

    This position entails soliciting new business through prospecting via various channels, developing new relationships with a view to creating new business for the hotel, and maintaining existing client relationships to ensure repeat business. Along with direct sales efforts, the Catering Sales Manager is expected to maintain weekly booking goals, take care of their own client contracts and correspondence with diligence, and develop a thorough knowledge of our space and services, to make sure that clients’ needs are being met in all areas.

    Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:                                                              

    • Solicits new and existing small corporate group business through telephone solicitation, outside calls and site inspections
    • Solicits new and existing catering accounts to exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside calls, site inspections, and written communication
    • Managing the operation of the catering events, including but not limited to, Social Banquets, Holiday Parties, Reunions, Fundraisers, Birthday Parties, Anniversary Parties, Day Meetings and Weddings
    • Responds to all incoming leads for catering business
    • Acts as a property liaison between the catering account base and the operations departments of the hotel as necessary
    • Participates in daily business review meeting, sales meetings and management meetings, as deemed necessary by the Director of Sales
    • Develops detailed proposals, contracts and correspondence and tailors them to the specific programs and their negotiated terms while maintaining profitability goals of the hotel
    • Develops detailed group resumes outlining all important information regarding each group and details all pertinent information relevant to each department
    • Conducts site inspections and entertains potential clients as appropriate
    • Wears and maintains proper attire.
    • All other duties requested by management team.
    • All other duties detailed in the Pyramid Hotel Group manual.  

    Requirements

    Education and/or Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred
    • Experience in high volume establishments, customer service experience, and 2-3 years hotel catering, event planning, sales experience
    • Food and wine service knowledge
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Technical proficiency (basic computer applications)
    • Strong organizational and time management discipline with attention to detail
    • Understanding of hospitality operating systems
    • Solid judgment and ability to resolve conflicts effectively
    • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
    • Flexible schedule and ability to adapt to changing guest needs

     

    Language, Mathematical, and Reasoning Skills:  Must be able to communicate clearly with guests, customers and employees.  Must be able to make appropriate judgments regarding the cooking responsibilities. 

     

    Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Candidate must be able to lift/push/pull up to 25 lbs and be able to work long hours/split shifts and be able to handle stressful conditions.  Frequently required to walk and stand for long periods of time.  Requires ability to reach, grab, and feel.
