    Room Attendant Job Description:
    The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning guest rooms and responding to guest requests in the hotel’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service.  Specifically, the Room Attendant is responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

    • Clean guest rooms as assigned, including, but not limited to, making beds, cleaning bathrooms, dusting and vacuuming
    • Change and replenish bed linens, towels and guest amenities, as needed
    • Perform deep cleaning tasks, as needed
    • Stock, maintain and transport housekeeping supply cart on a daily basis
    • Dispose of trash and recyclables
    • Check that all appliances are present in the room and in working order. Straighten desk items, furniture, and appliances. Dust, polish, and remove marks from walls and furnishings.
    • Vacuum carpets and performs floor care duties (e.g., in guest rooms and hallway).
    • Identify and report preventative or other maintenance issues in public areas or guest rooms.
    • Select appropriate cleaning chemicals and necessary personal protective equipment for various surfaces and cleaning jobs, following OSHA regulations and corporate standards.
    • Transport cart to assigned area and position securely, following procedures for cart positioning.
    • Return cart to designated area at the end of the shift.
    • Report room status (e.g. Do Not Disturb notice on room, discrepant rooms) to Housekeeping Manager or Supervisor
    • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
    • Respond to special guest requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
    • Note: This is a full-time non-exempt position that requires availability to work weekends and holidays.


    The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. 

    • Ability to arrive to work on time and when scheduled
    • Physically able to move large objects, such as: carts, large bags of linens, ironing board
    • Physically able to operate cleaning equipment, such as: vacuum cleaners, brooms, spray bottles
    • Ability to read and recognize room/suite numbers
    • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members verbally or in written form
    • Ability to learn, follow, and enforce standards of cleanliness as the apply to all aspects of rooms/suites
    • Ability to follow all safety procedures/standards and able to recognize and act in emergency situations
